Tungsten carbide (T.C) Rings

Tungsten carbide rings are created by combining tungsten powder with cobalt and nickel. The powders are then placed in a high pressure dye to form a blank. To bind the nickel and cobalt with the tungsten the blank isfired at 3600 degrees Fahrenheit its main alloy components are vanadium, nickel, tungsten, molybdenum, niobium, cobalt, etc., The carbon content is less than 1.6%, the phosphorus content must be controlled below 0.03%, the chromium content must be controlled below 5%, and the sulfur content must be controlled below 0.03%,so that its wear resistance is superior.

Properties:

Tungsten Carbide Rings have extremely high wear resistance, strong and tough. Compared with ordinary steel, the service life is extended ten times. It can be used stably and long-term even in harsh abrasion environments. As far as the materials for our products, there are two series as Wc-Co and Wc-Co-Ni-Cr which possess the good comprehensive mechanical properties. The bending strength and impact toughness reach 2200 Mpa and (4-6)x106J/m3 respectively. Its hardness and wear resistance comes from tungsten carbide (Wc) while the toughness and strength depend on the binding agent Co-Ni-Cr).

Tungsten carbide has a high melting point at 2,870 °C (3,140 K), a boiling point of 6,000 °C (6,270 K) when under a pressure equivalent to 1 standard atmosphere (101.325 kilopascals), a thermal conductivity of 110 W·m−1·K−1, and a coefficient of thermal expansion of 5.5 µm·m−1·K−1.

Application: These Rings are used in finishing stands of TMT mill & Wire rods for extended life in applications where long rolling campaigns are required. Their extreme hardness makes them suitable for wire rods finishing blocks and some shaping applications.
